Open Science Foundation Fellowships

A twelve-month fellowship for researchers who work openly, open to EU citizens. Five fellowships are awarded in this call.
How the selection works
- A published rule check. When you submit, the rules on /rules run on your application and you see every rule, its result and what it measured. The rule check uses no AI. If a rule rejects you and you think it is wrong, you can ask a person to review it.
- Reciprocal peer review. Applicants who pass review three anonymised applications from the same experience band and receive three reviews.
- A Theoria assessment. Theoria, an open-source verification tool that uses AI language models, identifies the research question your proposal depends on, tries to answer it from the published literature, and produces a step-by-step record with a source for every claim. You see the result and can respond to it. Theoria does not score your proposal and decides nothing on its own: any adverse finding goes to a person appointed by OSF, who reads your response and upholds or overrules it with a published reason. Only a finding that person upholds can remove an application from the lottery. Before you submit, you will be able to run Theoria on your draft as private practice.
- A verifiable lottery. The eligible applications enter one pool as opaque tickets, and the draw is made from public randomness that anyone can recompute.
What a fellow commits to
